Chabana Tea House

Chabana Tea House is a traditional Japanese tea house, located in the upper area of Chata. Despite its location in the busy city, the tea house's grounds are remarkably quiet. Stepping in through the gate is like stepping into another, peaceful, world. The original owner of the tea house built it after the building that was previously located there burned down, which is why it can seem fairly out of place among the other buildings.
As its name suggests, Chabana Tea House display flowers in the tea rooms' alcoves. They are arranged by a capable member of the staff, and can be found in each room where the guests may sit to enjoy their tea.
Since the tea house has a strict policy against wearing outdoor shoes, there are indoor shoes provided. Though it is just as acceptable to walk around on bare feet, as long as you don't drag in dirt.

There is one more modern sitting area, that still gives off a traditional feeling.
Besides that, there are several traditional rooms, one which is bigger than the rest, available for larger groups.
It is possible to rent a room for more privacy, if one so wishes. Unless a room is rented, guests may opt to sit there instead of in the open area.
Rent a room or book a performance.

The tea house serves both traditional teas and traditional teas with a modern spin.
It's possible to find sencha, gyokuro, matcha, genmaicha, and a range of other traditional teas, but don't be surprised if you see someone sipping a green tea latte, or see some simple coffee art on the surface of the teas. Though those may need to be requested, unless the staff knows you want a little picture on the top.
Traditional Japanese confections are also sold, to accompany the tea.
The treats are seasonal, and all waiters and waitresses are trained to know which kashi goes best with which tea.
And for those who wish it, there is entertainment to offer.
Please inquire about our traditional music and dance performances.
Every Wednesday, a tea ceremony is held, and one only needs to sign up and pay a small fee to participate. It is also possible to book someone to perform a tea ceremony any other time as well, and once in a while, the tea house offer classes. Sometimes, other business may host classes of their own in some of their rooms as well.
Sign up for a class.

One may also enjoy the small tea garden, that surrounds the tea house.
There is, for example, a very beautiful maple tree. We also have a koi pond.
The garden is always well maintained.

Every member of the staff wears traditional clothes. Generally, they wear the shop's samue, but when they take part in a tea ceremony, they wear yukata or kimono, of which they do not have any specific, though the shop do order one once a staff member has become fully capable of handling the ceremony, as a sort of celebration. The staff members capable of hosting tea ceremonies are denoted with an asterisk * by their positions in the staff list.
It is not uncommon for entertainers or those capable of performing tea ceremonies to have another position at the tea house, or for them to have another part-time job somewhere else. Entertainers or other staff might also be outsourced from other businesses affiliated with Chabana.
